Putting Wisco bikepacking on the map
First Annual Tour de Chequamegon staged by Wisconsin Bike Fed and Fyxation Bicycle Co.
Milwaukee, WI – September 30th, 2016 – Fyxation, a Milwaukee based bicycle company, announced today that they will be hosting the first annual Tour de Chequamegon bikepacking trip in conjunction with the Wisconsin Bike Fed. The ride will start and finish in Cable WI, traversing gravel roads, and runs October 7th thru October 9th, 2016.
In the spirit of adventure, the Tour de Chequamegon is mostly a self-supported bicycle ride that winds through gravel roads and dirt two-track through the Chequamegon National Forest in Northern Wisconsin. Riders will be carrying their own camping supplies and repair gear on their bicycles and riding together as a group. Meals will be provided at designated campgrounds by Fyxation and the Bike Fed. Fyxation will also be supplying rental bikes for riders that are interested in testing out their new line of touring bicycles. All Fyxation bicycles are designed in Fyxation’s Riverwest headquarters and retail store.
The entry fee to ride is $100 for the inaugural year, with proceeds going to benefit the Wisconsin bike fed.
Nick Ginster, co-founder and general manager of Fyxation was quoted as saying, “Bikepacking and gravel road riding has been growing in popularity in recent years, but when you look at maps of the US, gravel ride routes in the Midwest are curiously missing. Fyxation and the Wisconsin Bike Fed have set out to change that and quite literally will put Wisconsin gravel on the map. Being a mostly self-supported ride, the Tour de Chequamegon is really about getting away from it all and exploring Wisconsin’s back roads in the simplest way possible. Riders will share in the comradery of travelling as a small group while enjoying the fall colors, scenic route and fireside chats.”
