Friends of the Kettle Moraine State Forest, Northern Unit
A non-profit organization formed in the mid-1980s with a mission to support the recreational opportunities, resource management, and educational offerings of the Kettle Moraine State Forest – Northern Unit through financial assistance and volunteer help. The Friends have funded prairie plantings, playground equipment, invasive species control, construction of trail shelters and maintenance buildings, natural landscaping, interpretive signage, educational equipment, and other projects. Sponsoring worthy causes involves the Friends with the Earth Day Cleanup, Candlelight Ski/Hike, as well as many other public programs and events. The groups largest fundraiser is the Leaf Stomp held on the second Saturday of October.
Fostering public appreciation for all that the Northern Unit offers, and nurturing a dedicated volunteer corps, the Friends are currently fundraising for the Ice Age Visitor Center Complex Project and State Natural Areas invasive species control. The Board of Directors meets quarterly and invites you to attend our programs, events, and meetings. Review our web page by clicking on:
