Over the weekend, I caught a discussion about the meaning of the phrase "fish or cut bait," on the Public Radio show "A Way With Words."
It turned out to be a timely talk for runners wavering over a Milwaukee Lakefront Marathon entry.
About 300 slots were left as of Thursday morning. Fifty were snapped up on Wednesday, and those last bibs go fast.
In 2010, the marathon filled on April 21, and it appears to be right on the same pace, despite the expanded field of 3,050. Organizers with the Badgerland Striders dropped the relay to open another 300 spots in the full marathon.
If it helps in the decision-making, it's likely that the course would not meet the official standards for a world record, because of it's point-to-point lay out.
