Cole House wins attention for his speed on two wheels

Posted

Cole House, a pro cyclist from Oneida, leads the news on the Indian Country Today site devoted to Native Americans.

The feature piece describes the 23-year-old as the fastest American Indian on two wheels. House will work to make that simply "fastest on two wheels" this weekend in the four-race Gateway Cup in St. Louis, Mo.

Wisconsin cyclists have watched the member of the Oneida Nation develop from a teenager racing mountain bikes, into a top pro winning stages in some of the country's biggest race series. He is a three-time Wisconsin Road Race Champion.

House made a move this year from the BMC development team to Realcyclist.com. His team director, Gord Fraser, offered this assessment in the feature piece:

"The number one thing is that he's very talented. Number two, he's got quite the motivation. He's definitely a very driven athlete. He's confident in his ability, almost cocky in a way, which is good for the type of rider he is. He has a special talent. Certainly one of the rarest of the skill sets in cycling is possessing a good turn of speed. He has a good sense of the finish line and how to get there first. It's a combination that's very much in demand. Hopefully he can develop and continue to improve and make it to the upper echelons of the sport."
