Oak Creek Police report that a 56-year-old man was struck by a car and killed about 6 p.m. Sunday while biking on S. NIcholson Rd.
The victim was identified as Sam Ferrito, an Oak Creek resident.
According to the police statement, Ferrito was hit from behind by the car driven by an 18-year-old man.
Ferrito is the second cyclist killed in the area this month, and the second of the year.
In a similar crash, John Schread, of Cedarburg, died on July 1. According to the report from the Muskego police department, a car driven by a 95-year-old man hit Schread from behind as he pedaled westbound on Muskego Dam Road, about one-half mile from Kelsey Rd.
The driver provided a different account, telling police that Schread swerved into him. Physical evidence at the scene disagreed with that scenario, according to police.
Police have not issued any citations in the case, pending completion of a crash reconstruction report by the Wisconsin State Patrol and a review by the district attorney.
