Here's How You Get Your MTB Trails - Chris Schotz at the Helm

Posted

Building Trails at Jack Lake

Let's all give Chris Schotz and crew of the Jack Lake Silent Sports Association our time to watch a snippet of their time building the trails we perhaps take for granted. They don't unfold 10 MPH or more at a time! Instead, bulldozing works a mapped-out trail, dealing with all sorts of obstacles. Afterwards, hand-building forms the banks and jumps and curves and switchbacks, and a whole lot of "ands" we enjoy, whether on bikes, foot, or skis. (NO ATVs, please!!!)

This particular video is from trail build work performed in May 2020 at Jack Lake Trails. You can read more about Jack Lake Trails via this link: https://www.jacklaketrails.com/

And then check out the Jack Lake Silent Sports Association Facebook page, which tells you more about the people building these trails, as well as the club: https://www.facebook.com/JackLakeSSA/

In this video, Chris Schotz helms the 9000 pound(!) bulldozer, and although a bruiser, it's still not fast work. Then afterwards, you see all the volunteers doing the handwork to make this a trail of beauty - and excitement. Afterwards, please post a comment by scrolling, way, way below, sending thanks to Chris and his dedicated crew!

Thank YOU, Chris and crew and the Jack Lake Silent Sports Association!
