IAT builder Propp named 'Best Trail Worker'

Posted
American Trails recently named Rich Propp, a volunteer with the Ice Age Trail Alliance's Mobile Skills Crew, State Trail Worker of the Year. Propp frequently leads crews hand-building trail tread, bridges and boardwalk on the 1,000-mile long footpath through Wisconsin.

According to the American Trails website, "The State Trail Worker Award recognizes an individual that has demonstrated outstanding contributions and provided consistent support for trail planning, development, or maintenance. It is intended to recognize the commitment and efforts of a private or public sector individual working for enhanced trail recreation in their local area/state."

In a statement nominating Propp for the award, the IAT Alliance said, "Rich's dedication, work ethic, knowledge, patience, spirit, safety record and smile make him an invaluable resource to our organization. He inspires everyone he works with to give it their best and learn how to handcraft premier sustainable National Scenic Hiking Trail."

American Trails' National Trails awards were presented at the American Trails National Symposium in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Nov. 16.
