Following the maxim that one has to learn before one can teach, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation is offering four clinics over the next month devoted to safe bicycling instruction for children.
Hundreds of police officers, teachers and community volunteers have taken the classes in the last decade, then used the information to conduct safety classes for youths.
The first "train the trainers" workshop will be held in La Crosse on April 30, followed by classes in Greenfield and Fitchburg on May 7 and Appleton on May 14.
The classes are free. Costs are paid by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Registration information can be found here, or by contact Larry Corsi via email: larry.corsi@dot.wi.gov.
