Those who were surprised when Bicycling Magazine named Minneapolis the nation's top biking city ought to check out this video - a slideshow of winter biking in the cold and snow.

Similar scenes could have been captured in Madison and Milwaukee, which ranked 7th and 25th on the Bicycling Magazine scorecard in April 2010.

In fact, the League of American Bicyclists rates Madison slightly ahead of Minneapolis in its rankings of Bicycle Friendly Cities. Madison has a gold ranking and Minneapolis a silver. Milwaukee has bronze.

It's likely that Minneapolis will gain more accolades in short order, as its bike sharing program moves into its second year.
