And now—imagine an event taking you through the entire 47.7 miles of Gandy Dancer Trail. Solo or, even better, in teams of two to four to share the adventure. According to event organizer and Friends of Gandy Dancer member, Heidi Hanson, that experience awaits you on August 29, 2020, at the Inaugural Full Gandy Dancer Relay. With a ten-foot-wide trail, staggered starts, and other methods, the Full Gandy Dancer Relay also gives its respect to the current social distancing standards. Per Heidi:
We are still planning the Inaugural Full Gandy Relay on Saturday, August 29th, starting in St. Croix Falls, WI, and ending in Danbury. Teams of 2 through 4, or solo, will cover 47.7 miles in sections pre-designated for running, biking, and hiking. For teams, only one member per team is on the course at a time. To help with social distancing, this event is mostly unsupported, and the trail is about 10 feet wide and this event is one-directional. Also, we will be in contact with participants via email about possible staggered starting based on registration numbers and current county health recommendations. A total of 7 segments: 3 running, from 4-6 miles each; 3 biking, from 7-11.1 miles each; and 1 hike of 3.7 miles. Your team decides which segments each member will take. Team members ages 16 and older must have a state trail pass, available at the start line. Suggested donation: $25 per person. Event not officially timed.
Run, hike, bike the Full Gandy on August 29, 2020, solo or in teams up to 4. Click image to enlarge.
