Posted

More than 5,000 runners have signed up for the inaugural Summerfest Rock n' Sole, the half-marathon and 10K races over the Daniel Hoan Memorial Bridge on July 10.

The first running races to utilize the bridge in more than two decades have drawn entries from 42 states and seven countries, Summerfest officials announced Thursday morning. No official cap has been set on registration, which continues up to race day.

The participants registered so far are split: 3,141 in the half-marathon and 2,003 in the 10K.

As part of Summerfest, the Rock 'n Sole offers $22,000 in prize money, including $2,500 for the male and female winners of the half-marathon. The races will start and finish in the Henry G. Maier Festival Park.

Registration for the half-marathon costs $80 through the end of June, and includes two tickets to the music festival. Packet pick up will start on June 28 at the Performance Running Outfitters, 4401 N. Oakland Ave., so runners can use their extra festival tickets as part of their training.

The course map for the half-marathon can be found below.
