Team 7-Eleven book signing postponed

A local book signing to promote the newly released story of the 7-Eleven Cycling team has been postponed.

Due to the death of a friend, team founder Jim Ochowicz had to pull out of the event set for Monday night at the Wheel & Sprocket shop in Brookfield. It's expected that Ochowicz and 7-Eleven team member Tom Schuler will reschedule the book signing in December.

"Team 7-Eleven: How an Unsung Band of American Cyclists Took on the World and Won" recounts the founding of the first U.S. team to compete in the Tour de France. Ochowicz, the founder and manager, joined six of the members from that 1986 squad at the Bicycle Federation of Wisconsin Saris Gala, in Madison, on Saturday night.

Ochowicz said those cyclists were the pioneers who broke the trail for Lance Armstrong to become the most successful rider in the history of the Tour de France. Team 7-Eleven turned into team Motorola, which was Lance Armstrong, Ochowicz said.
