In the Twin Cities, three bicycling and walking projects won approval for more than $1.1 million in federal funding through Transit for Liveable Communities, according to MinnPost.com.

The projects include $1 million for the Nice Ride Minnesota bicycle-sharing program to add up 50 new bike stations in the Twin Cities.

The city of Fridley will get $110,000 to improve walking and biking connections from the Northstar Rail Station to area sidewalks and bike lanes on Main Street.

Minneapolis is also slated to get $62,000 to pay for pedestrian safety improvements at four intersections in the Seward neighborhood, the website reported.
