Gooseberry Falls State Park nominated for Best State Park award

USA Today 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards has nominated Gooseberry Falls State Park for the Best State Park category. Fans of the park can vote daily through Monday, May 11, at noon.

This iconic Minnesota park was selected by a panel of USA Today editors and subject matter experts who chose the best of the best in nationwide outdoor recreation attractions.

Since its establishment in 1937, Gooseberry Falls State Park has been a site where visitors create North Shore memories. Gooseberry Falls State Park has been Minnesota's most-visited state park for 7 of the last 10 years, averaging more than 760,000 visitors per year during that period.

The park’s unique Upper, Middle, and Lower falls are a visitor's favorite location for photos.  With more than 20 miles of hiking trails, the park offers routes for all skill levels. Visitors can wander through cedar and spruce forests, follow the Gooseberry River to Lake Superior’s rocky shore, or take the Gitchi-Gami State Trail for a scenic bike ride along the North Shore.
