Town of Boulder Junction Announces Winter Park Grand Opening, Community Ice Rink and “The Glide” Skating Ribbon Return

Posted

The Town of Boulder Junction announced the return of its Winter Park facility, featuring the community ice rink and the innovative skating trail known as The Glide Ice Skating Ribbon. For the second year, the Town, in collaboration with dedicated community volunteers, will bring this unique winter recreation venue to life, weather permitting, with a tentative Grand Opening date of Saturday, December 20, 2025.

The Winter Park initiative, led by the Town’s Park Board, is designed to create a year-round, multi-generational outdoor amenity that draws residents and visitors alike. This year’s offering includes the traditional community rink complemented by The Glide, a 0.8-mile skating ribbon threading through the woods.

The Glide transforms an existing loop trail into a scenic ice-skating ribbon, with solar-powered lights that enhance evening skating. The ribbon offers skaters a forested experience through the Northern Highland–American Legion State Forest.

Since its debut last season, The Glide has drawn strong attention from state and regional media, which highlighted its nearly mile-long wooded course, festive atmosphere, and popularity with visitors.

Coverage from several Wisconsin travel publications noted the trail’s draw for thousands of skaters and its role in putting Boulder Junction on the map as a unique Northwoods winter destination.

Typical hours for Winter Park are 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., weather permitting. Visit the website at https://www.boulderatplay.com for more information.
