A nonprofit since 2012, RASTA members work hands-on, building/maintaining trails at Washburn, Mud Lake, Cassian, Nose Lake, and the Enterprise Primitive trails. RASTA has helped Oneida County fund and build the Judy Swank Perch Lake Shelter, and put in miles of multi-use, non-motorized trails. We’ve built and maintained miles of multi-use silent sports trails at our Mud Lake trail system. Also, an additional parking area on Crystal Lake Road. We groom and maintain the cross-country ski trails at Washburn, Nose Lake, and Cassian trail systems, providing current grooming reports to the public. We also groom the Enterprise Primitive Trail system for fat biking in the winter.
UPDATE
RASTA invites you north to check out the many trail improvements to our skiing, hiking, and biking trails.
Cassian Trail
With a few modifications to the route, 9-miles of the Cassian Trail were opened for summer biking. In addition, a new turn around for winter grooming was constructed to help us open the ski trail earlier this winter.
Mud Lake Trail
Several new features were added to the Mud Lake mountain bike trail including a jump line and wood embankment.
Nose Lake Trail
On the West Loop RASTA obtained permission from the County to open the trail for summer biking. We also cleared and blazed a new 4-mile dog friendly snowshoe trail. On the East Loop, 1-mile of new ski trail was built through the woods and rolling terrain to replace an undesirable flat and wet section of the trail.
Washburn Silent Sports Area
The construction of a new 3-mile single track trail at the Washburn Silent Sports Area has begun. The trail will flow through some of the best terrain in the area and include many challenging ride overs and jumps. Donations for the completion of the trail are still being accepted at http://rastatrails.org/ fundraising/
Fundraising – Rhinelander Area Silent Trails AssociationRASTA has received a commitment from two trail sponsors to begin building the 2.7 mile North Trail as a single track hiking, biking and snowshoeing trail in the northern section of the Washburn Silent Trails Area..
